UNITED BREAKS GUITARS!!!!!!

Hi, I'm Thiago and today I will talk about a very famous video on youtube, called UNITED BREAKS GUITARS.

The story is about a musician that took a flight by United Airlines. Before he got on the plane, he asked the United employees if he could take his guitar with him, and they told him he couldn't, he had to dispach it, so he warned them that they had to be careful because the guitar could break, but they didn't pay attention.

When he arrived, he recived his guitar, but it was broken. He got angry and then he started to complain with United, that answered that it was not their fault, and they refused to pay him the money to fix the guitar.

As he was a musician, he made a song called United Breaks Guitars and put it on youtube.com. The video became very famous and after a long time United finally accepted to give him the money and said they were sorry, but at that time he didn't want the money anymore, and after that he created two other songs about United and again he put them on the internet.

Prince of Persia !!!

Finally I’m posting on the correct date! And it’s a great tip for those who love games. (Just to apologize, the post about the “Clash of the Titans” is my post also…)

“Prince of Persia: Sands of Time” is the new action-adventure fantasy film done by the Walt Disney Pictures with the same producers from the “Pirates of the Caribbean”. This movie is based on the 2003 video-game with the same title, developed by Ubisoft Montreal.

The story, pretty much like the game, follows Dastan, the boy who was adopted by the Persia’s king to be his heir to the throne. From there, his main objective is to rescue the wanted ancient “Dagger of Time”, which has the ability to go back in time by short periods, allowing changing the past. However, to control such power, he has to fight against the villain Nizam, who owns the dagger. To do it, he will have the help from Princess Tamina, stopping Nizam from creating a sandstorm that could destroy the world.

The film is directed by Mike Newell and is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the same from “Pirates of the Caribbean”. The main characters are played by Jake Gyllenhaal as Dastan, Gemma Arterton as Princess Tamina and Ben Kingsley as Nizam. The movie is around 120 minutes of running time and has a budget near the U$ 150 million.

In my personal opinion I think this movie can be a great one, especially because I really like this game, and the good news is that it will be released on May 28. However, it will be only available in 2-D technology.

ROBIN HOOD

Today I'm going to talk about a film that has been recently released on the cinema: Robin Hood

"There are other films about Robin Hood stories, so why they made another?"

If you are asking yourself the same thing, don't worry, you are not the only one. The diference is that this time the character is not a simple fao, as he was in the Disney film, and also he isn't the old and boring Robin Hood of the film made in 1991. This time the film is diferent.

It has more real war scenes, more actions than the others. Even the story of the film is not the same. He is still a person that don't follow the laws and that is against the king, but know the context is more complicated.

Well, I'm not going to tell everything because it wouldn't be nice. Anyone like to know the end of the story before wathing the film.

So don't miss it: Robin Hood, it is aready on the cinema (since Friday)

Clash of the Titans!!!

First of all, I would like to apologize for the fact that I didn’t posted on Tuesday. This week I was kind in a rush, so the posting was delayed for this weekend… This movie that I’m going to talk about was released a month ago, but still it is worth commenting.

Clash of the Titans is a remake from an old 1981 film, called also the Clash of the Titans. Likewise the 1981 version, the movie is loosely based on the Greek myth of Perseus (son of Zeus with the daughter from the King Cepheus of Argos). Released on April 2, there is also a version in 3-D technology.

The basic story from the version of 1981, would be the challenges which Perseus had to conquer to win the possibility to marry Andromeda, a princess which was cursed by Tetis (goddess from the sea). In this travel, Perseus is helped by many gods with weapons that would allow him to win the battles.

But in the 2010 version, Perseus is trying to save his family from Hades (the god from the Underworld and brother from Zeus). Leading a group of soldiers, this hero will have to go on a journey through the Hades’ own Underworld to stop him before he steals the power from his brother and make the entire earth one hell. But on his way, there will be lots of creatures and monsters that he will just defeat once he proves to be worthy from the power given by his father and to create his own fate.

The film is directed by Louis Leterrier, written by Lawrence Kasdan, Travis Beacham, Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. In the cast are Sam Worthington as Perseus (son of Zeus, the main protagonist), Ralph Fiennes as Hades (god of the Underworld, the primary villain), and Liam Neeson as Zeus (the leader of the gods of Mount Olympus). The film has around 118 minutes of running time and a budget getting on the US$ 125 million.

In my personal opinion, I think that watching this picture must be a must amusement experience, as for it is about an ancient Greek myth, as the high technology used on the movie, such the 3-D. However, we must watch first to see if we really like it.

Stonehenge

Today I’m going to write about one of the biggest monuments of the history, it’s Stonehenge; this monument can be founded on south England. It probably was created on the Bronze Age.


Like the other mystic contents, the Stonehenge has a lot of strange thinks, the monument is a circle, there`s an big rock at the center like an poker table, an around there are a lot of rock pillars with 5 meters of height and like 50 tons of weight.

The hypothesis of the construction are that the native people tries to study the space like an astrologer, another one is that they do sacrifices for gods on the center of these monument, and it’s possible that they use that to parties, that they need to sacrifice animals or people.

At these days Stonehenge is the most visited historical monument; it attracts people like students of history until curious people.

If you are thinking "oh no, world cup again" don't worry, I won't talk about it for ever, I already have other things in mind to talk about in the next week.

But I'm going to talk about something very important for the brazilian people:

Unfortunately our contry desrespected all the dates that FIFA fixed to the beginig of the constructions, so FIFA already has a "plan B". Acctualy, since it was announced that we would host the Cup, nothing was really done. The only thing that was decided was the cities that will host the games, but this isn't really defined.


Ricardo Teixeira, president of the CBF (Confederação Brasileira de Futebol) say that everything is OK, and that there is nothing to be worried about. Brazil will do everything on time.


I disagree with him and I hope that the that we finish everything necessary to host the Cup, because me and o lat of other brazilians would like to se the world cup here.

            The one who is back is hour famous dreams monster: Freddy Krueger;
   He 's back in a remake from the movie that was made in 1984 that still have the same name today:
                                          "A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET"

            It's a slasher movie (horror with a psychopathic killer) where Nancy (Rooney Mara), Kris (Kate Cassidy), Quentin (Kyle Galner), Jesse (Thomas Dekker) and Dean (Kellan Lutz) start dreaming with the same man that uses a tattered sweater, striped red and green, a felt hat worn by covering part of a disfigured face and a gardening glove with blades instead of fingers: Freddy Krueger (Jack Earle Haley). He get in those people dreams hurting them and, when they wake up, they realize that what happens in the dreams with him become true in real life.
            The movie must be great, because it's a classic an is directed by Samuel Bayer (he made a lot of good music video filmography) and produced by Michael Bay (the director of the next Transformers movie), and it can be a really good movie to watch when it's possible.

just a poem

First of all, I think it is not my day of posting, but I have nothing to do today, so I will do it.
In the next weeks I will post here some poems of mine, so if you don't like poems, close this window now!

Death, just the beginning. We call of end by ignoring the beyond. Present soon ends, extinguish the speak, past is what stays, sinks with the rest, the future is the unexplored, which has returned from heaven or hell? Eternity is for cowards, imprisioned in common, true courage comes from the knife of your own hands, that like a prisoner of your chest, drains an empty heart. And then when the dream ends, you don't wake up. Do you think it is over? No, death is just the beginning.

Difficult is not to suffer with your own problems, it is to suffer with the happiness of others,it is to try to seek the light at the end of an endless tunnel, it is to see the sun behind an infinite of clouds,it is to chase a reason to stay alive, a reason for being a coward and don't die with the knife of your own hands, it is to carry the water with a sieve,it is to trap the wind with your hands,it is to keep walking along a road that seems endless for those who dream, a road called life where who doesn't dream don't walk, where who suffers soon reaches the end, because who dreams, has infinity of pain ahead, and who suffers, the end of a road of dreams ...

Pascal Island!

HELLO GUYS!! Here is Gabriel C. Antonini.


You know that I said I’ll be posting more trivia. So… here it is.

I looked at some sites and I found some strange things like the Pascal islands, those islands can be found at the Pacific Ocean just west of the American continent. Those islands are unhabited by any kind of people.

Then you will say: cool, but where are the strage things of those islands. Then I'll say do you know about the stones totems? Probably you don't!

So here is the history, a lot of pre historical navigators used to make that rote, but the legend says that one of that navigators  broke his boat at that island, but in this island there wasn't any kind of wood or anything that could be used to repair the boat, so these navigators started to create a tribe or something like that, some time  passed and the children of this tribe started to be born.

Year by year that culture started to grow and the old people started to die, so the hopes to come back to his own place was forgotten. The young people that saw their parents dying started to think how they could make their family immortal, so they created the stone totems, not one but a lot of them , everywhere!

But suddenly those people started to disappear and a lot of totems couldn't be finished, so some scientist are trying to explain why they disappeared? One of the hypotheses is that a strong disease caught that tribe and killed them all; another hypothesis is that they discovered one way to get out of there and abandoned the tribe.

Today that island is a good point of tourism, with huge totems and the beauty of an inhabited island.

                    Hi there! My name is Ivo. I was thinking something to write here and occurred to me the idea of talking a bit about one special movie that I’m thrilled to watch, The Iron Man 2!!!! And to make things a lot easier, I’m going to write every week about different types of movies
                    To start, The Iron Man movies are based on the old Marvel Comics, with the same superhero name. The second part of a planned trilogy, it is a sequel to Iron Man, recorded in 2008.
                    The film starts with Tony Stark announcing he is the real Iron Man. From this moment, he is summoned by the government to show them how the Iron Man project works. Furthermore, he is chased by the son of his father’s old enemy, Ivan Vanko. With all this happening at the same time, he still has to fight against a poisoning from the only thing that can make him survive, the arc reactor.
                   With a bigger number of characters, such Nick Fury (an agent from an organization called S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Natalie Rushman (the new personal assistant for Tony Stark), the movie answers the entire request from their fans. The great deal of action scenes combined to the “arrogant” type of superhero that Tony Stark represents, provide to the spectators a most elating experience.
                   Besides, the movie has already been released here in Brazil!!!! (Although the official release in the United States will be on May 7).

FIFA World Cup Curiosities

Hi everyone, my name is Thiago and today I will talk about the FIFA World Cup, that will begin in 38 days. I will write about some curiosities that I think are interesting.

In 1966, during the game England vs Argentina, one of the soccer players from Argentina demanded the presence of a translator, because he couldn't understand what the referee was saying. The referee thougth that was a disrespect and expelled the argentinian from the game.

In 1994 the World Cup was in the USA. During the opening, a famous american singer had to take a penalty, and even without a goal keeper, SHE MISSED THE GOAL!!!!

Other Curiosities:

The fastest goal: 11 seconds; Hakan Sukur (Turkey) at the game KOREA REPUBLIC vs TURKEY (2002)

The person that played more games:  Lothar Matthäus (German); 25 games
